Subsystem: Ubiquinone Menaquinone-cytochrome c reductase complexes

This subsystem's description is:

Quinol (Ubiquinol,menaquinol)-cytochrome c reductase complex (complex III or cytochrome b-c1 complex)is part of the bacterial/mitochondrial respiratory chain.
Reaction: QH(2) + 2 ferricytochrome c = Q + 2 ferrocytochrome c. Type of quinol depends on an organism (Menaquinol is generally present in Bacilli, for example, Ubiquinol in animals, majorety of gram negative bacteria).
The mitochondrial bc1 complex contains 11 subunits; 3 respiratory subunits (cytochrome b, cytochrome c1, Rieske protein), 2 core proteins and 6 low-molecular weight proteins.Fungi and plants bc1 complex contains 5 low-molecular weight proteins
Not all Rieske proteins are included into subsystem, only ones connected by gene clusters to one or more members of the protein cluster. Differentiation of Ubiquinone and Menaquinone related complexes is pretty conditional in cases where no supporting information was found in the literatute and were no strong selective homology was expressed by any of proteins towards a member of those distinguished complexes.
