Subsystem: Triacylglycerol metabolism
This subsystem's description is:
Triacylglycerols are highly concentrated stores of metabolic energy due to their nearly anhydrous storage form and the high yield of free energy on oxidation. Not all known lipases hydrolyse triacylglycerols. Ones related to this function are listed in the subsystem. Most of these functions are more specific for eukaryotic metabolism and occur as well in plant and animal pathogens.
