A family of proton-dependent peptide symporters that utilize the proton gradient as driving force and lack cognate binding proteins These proton-dependent dipeptide and tripeptide transporters are members of the peptide transport (PTR) family (also called proton-dependent oligopeptide transporter or POT family) and are found in all organisms. In E. coli, there are four members of the family, only two of which have been experimentally characterized. There is some redundancy in substrate specificity among the transporters. |
