In addition to acting as a corepressor, P-Ser46-Phosphocarrier protein of PTS system is 500 times less efficient in being phosphorylated by on His15 by PEP. Thus, the Ser phosphorylation inhibits PTS uptake systems. There is also evidence that the phosphorylated molecule directly inhibits some non-PTS uptake systems.
